LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN TEACHING PILATES
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Developed by Joseph Pilates in the 20th Century, Pilates is similar to Yoga, but emphasises the body’s core – the abdomen, obliques, lower back, inner and outer thigh, etc.
Pilates, which was first called “Contrology”, is a form of controlled movement, targets core development. It was revolutionary in the sense that it was the first exercise form to combine both Eastern and Western forms of exercise. It is widely practiced today, both with simple pieces of apparatus such as a ball and mat to more complicated machinery such as the reformer and the electric chair.
Pilates develops most of what exercisers need – strength, flexibility, muscular endurance, coordination, balance and good posture.
With Trifocus Fitness Academy’s YMCA Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates, you will learn how to unpack the core principles underlying the practice of Pilates, including, concentration, control, centering and breathing. You will also learn how to set up your Pilates studio properly, including, the temperature of the studio, how mirrors should be used and how big a Pilates class should be.
